This Halloween, N’s class has a theme. and it’s RECYCLED! We were asked to create a halloween costume for the kiddos with recycled items at home. So I got to thinking..

Recently N has been into magic and witches and she really wanted to be a witch for Halloween. I was immediately drawn to my Pinterest board for some ideas but then I realised that every one of them were time consuming and I could not fit them in between work travel. But I had to make it work.. so we decided to create a skirt from a trash bag and a hat from a recycled paper bag. N was super excited and wanted to help, which was amazing!

We got to work. The first step was to cut the trash bag into 1 inch strips. Then we used one of those strips as a belts and tied the rest around it. This took about 30 strips in total and less than 1 hour to put together. Voila! the skirt was ready! The hat came together after a quick measure of N’s head to ensure it will fit and after that it was just cutting and putting it together. Here’s the final outcome!
